Because carbs are sneaky little devils! 😂 They creep in when you’re “just having a little taste,” and suddenly your pants are giving you attitude. It’s always the carbs… never the steak. I wanted to lose 20 pounds before my birthday, and I only have 40 left to go!
If you follow any animal-based influencers, you’ll see a lot of sourdough bread. I’m not sure how it fits in an animal-based diet that’s not supposed to have grains, but I felt the need to experiment. There’s an amazing artisanal sourdough bread maker at the local farmer’s markets. They use sprouted whole grains, which somehow don’t trigger my gluten sensitivity. They use turmeric and some purple pea flower so all their breads are a gorgeous swirl of yellow & purple. And taste AMAZING! So I’ve given it a whirl.

I’m not going to say I’ve been perfect otherwise, but…the sourdough is the only major addition to MY animal-based diet. And over the course of the last 4-6 weeks, I’ve gained close to 20 pounds. I’m NOT happy with that, obviously. I’m SO sad the one bread I’ve found that tastes great, has great texture, and doesn’t make me sick is making me FAT! I’ll probably keep them in my back pocket for special occasions, but for now…. yeah. Sourdough is back out of my diet.
World Carnivore Month is January, so I guess this is good preparation for cutting out ALL fruits & veggies (and sourdough bread) from my diet. I’m really struggling with combining my foodie-ness with World Carnivore Month… something tells me I’ll be taking a lot if side dishes to work for my colleagues to eat while i just eat whatever protein I fixed…. or finding ways to do my fancypants dinners with JUST animal-based ingredients. Which could be fun!
