So this week is wellness week, and who couldn’t use some help in that area!!
Immunity. It seems like boosting our immune systems is one of the top world pastimes right now, right? With the pandemic, and approaching flu season, everyone is worried about their physical health.
- SLEEP!

Make sure you are getting adequate sleep. It’s the number one thing to help protect our immune systems, and yet seems to be the hardest thing to do. My schedule is crazy, so on my sleep tracker, it doesn’t look like I get enough sleep throughout the day, but I also can’t count the naps I take, so including those, I probably get enough. I’m VERY conscious of getting enough on the weekends to make sure I’m protecting myself enough. Diffuse some lavender in your bedroom to help set the tone. Turn off electronics (or use blue-blockers cuz I know putting the phone/tablet down for 20 mins is HARD!). Use a sleep app to play some calming tones until you fall asleep, and maybe even track your sleep to get reports on how you can improve. I love mine! - NUTRITION!

Yeah, I know. We’ve heard all of these before, but they’re so important! Because of my schedule, I eat like a trash panda most of the time – catching whatever food I can, whenever I can. But I’m trying REALLY hard this week and going forward to schedule at least two consistent meals per day, with nutritious snacks already prepped for me (and posted on my fridge so I don’t forget I have them!). I’m also pretty diligent about taking my multivitamins to provide my body with the correct bio-available nutrients it needs that my food choices may not provide. - SUPPLEMENT

I just touched on it, but our lifestyles right now are all over the place. Some got super into fitness, others like me got super lazy. Make sure you are supplementing your body’s nutritional needs with the right supplements. Not all over the counter supplements are in a form your body can use. I hate to say it, but very FEW of them are actually complete in the forms of nutrients provided, and in the form you body can use. Just do your research.
MENTAL HEALTH
Our mental health is just as important, if not MORE important than what we do physically to boost our immune system. Studies (I haven’t read, but are frequently quoted, so I’m using it here lol) have proven that if you are depressed or anxious, your immunity goes down. Especially with all the commotion in the country right now, plus the added stress of the upcoming holiday season, it’s super important to take care of our mental health as well. Thankfully, a lot of what we do for our physical health (like sleep, nutrition & supplementation) are all really good for mental health too. I would add in getting some daily exercise, and some quiet reflection time (whether you call it meditation or napping) will greatly help as well. Again, I’m big into aromatherapy, so I’ve constantly got something diffusing. Whether it’s lavender for it’s calming & relaxing properties, or something spicy (cinnamon & clove-ish) or a citrus that’s uplifting…. I always have something going for my mental health and emotions.
